The whole process is being finalized by the National Coordinating Committee which will officially present the name of the candidate. Reports from reliable sources indicate that the committee has reached a level where they are looking at five qualities which will be used as the basis for selecting the final candidate who is going to be the flag bearer.
Conversely, NCC will use an elimination method as a way of gauging the four contestants. This method will be based on their performance in the previous general elections. The aim of using this method is to determine whether the four candidates Kalonzo Musyoka, Moses Wetangula, Musalia Mudavadi, and Raila Odinga have tangible support from their respective supporters.
The second criteria is to determine the candidate who is likely to gather more votes from the Jubilee strongholds.
Thirdly, the committee will evaluate the candidate who is likely to get more votes outside his own political bases without necessarily receiving support from his fellow co-principals in the upcoming general elections.
Finally, the committee will look at the candidate who is likely not to receive a backlash from the Jubilee supporters thus attracting support from other regions which are not considered as the coalition’s strongholds.
The committee will further examine the candidate who is likely to draw voter apathy from his stronghold as well as getting more votes from the bloc.
Rumor has it that the coalition will be ready with a presidential candidate before the end of the coming week
