Former PM Raila Odinga is under investigation by
NCIC over the incitement remarks he made at a political rally in Narok County.
During his rally in
Narok County last month,the opposition leader was captured saying, “I am
calling upon all Kenyans from Mandera,Isiolo, Samburu, Kajiado and elsewhere in
Kenya to arm themselves so that we go to Nairobi and force Hassan’s team out of
office.”
The NCIC boss Mr
Francis Ole Kaparo on Monday said that Raila should be investigated concerning
the incitement remarks he made during the rally.
Another person to be
probed is the Uasin Gishu Governor Jackson Mandago who opposed the appointment
of Professor Laban Ayiro as the acting Vice Chancellor of Moi University.
Kaparo said, “Whether
Raila has a case to answer or not, each will carry his own cross. Both of them
are under investigation and once we have enough evidence we will take enough
action”.
Mr Kaparo further
warned that a stern action will be taken if the two are found guility of the
offences and that his team of investigators will not be intimidated in any way
by their positions.
Mr. Paul Mwangi who
is Odinga’s lawyer disclosed that he was not aware that NCIC had opened a case
against the former premier
Mr Mwangi affirmed,“We consider this
is a politically-motivated report and was uttered on a political platform
The NCIC has maintained that it will
carry out its duties and prosecute politicians found culpable of inciting
Kenyans ahead of the 2017 elections.
