Mourners attending the burial of a son to Funyula MP Paul Otuoma were on Saturday left in disappointment after President Uhuru Kenyatta cancelled plans to attend the ceremony at the last minute. Statehouse Spokesperson Manoah Esipisu had on Friday confirmed that the President would attend the burial of Malcom Otuoma, who died at the Nairobi Hospital last Friday. However, the President made a last minute cancellation on Saturday morning with pundits speculating that he may have kept off for fear of having a face off with ODM leader Raila Odinga. Odinga, who had also been expected to attend the burial also cancelled in the last minute. Other reports have indicated that the two leaders failed to turn up as a result of a heavy downpour in the area that affected their air travel plans. Amani National Congress party leader Musalia Mudavadi became the highest ranking politician at the burial attended by thousands of mourners who braved the heavy downpour to see off the late Malcom. Odinga and Kenyatta were last seen together in a public function during the burial of former Cabinet Minister William Ole Ntimama. During Ntimama’s burial, the two leaders had an ugly exchange of words as they addressed the mourners.
