FIND Out Why A Section Of ODM MP's Are Angered With Bungoma Senator Moses Wetangula

A section of Orange Democratic Movement (ODM) legislators have lashed out at Bungoma Senator Moses Wetangula after comparing Raila Odinga to a woman who cant give birth in marriage.

Wetangula, over the weekend, made remarks which seemingly likened Odinga to a woman who couldn't get pregnant in a marriage despite efforts by the husband.
“In marriage, in my local community, if you have a beautiful wife and after first, second and third month in marriage there is no baby, her aunties will come and ask her to try elsewhere with another man and then you see the woman becoming pregnant. When she gives birth nobody will know that is not your child.
“Now that we have tried with Raila and seen nothing, we are asking him that he is our elder. We don’t disrespect him. But we are telling him that now that he is our elder he will have a special place in the Cord government. But be the king maker. King makers in most occasions are even better that the king himself,” Wetangula affirmed.
It's these remarks that angered ODM legislators among them Luanda MP Chris Omulele who warned Wetangula that his sentiments would come back to haunt him.
“It was in bad taste and beneath the esteem I have previously held him (Mr Wetang’ula). He should know better than that. These wife allegories and idioms may come back to haunt him,” said the Luanda MP.
Busia Women Representative Florence Mutua, Butere MP Andrew Toboso and his Nyando counterpart Fred Outa vowed to block Wetangula from being endorsed as the CORD coalition’s presidential candidate.
“We have been very supportive to our partners so it amazes us that they can say this about our party leader. Kibaki Tosha was the last endorsement (Raila) did and we are not expecting any other from him because he is our presidential candidate,” Mutua was quoted by the Nation.
On Tuesday, the Bungoma Senator maintained that he didn't disrespect Raila but was only calling for fair nominations.
"We are three principals in CORD and whoever will win fairly we will support him. But if you win unfairly we will not accept because we cannot ask IEBC to be fair in elections and yet cannot do the same in our coalition," Wetang'ula said.
Speculations have been rife that the CORD coalition could be falling apart, following apparent disagreements on who should be the team's flag bearer as well as the mode of conducting party primaries.
Nonetheless, the three CORD co-principals maintain that all is well and the coalition is only upholding democracy by allowing all members to campaign freely.
