Here Is The Inspiring Letter President Obama Wrote To A 13 Year Old Kenyan Boy

US President Barack Obama wrote a letter in July to 13-year-old Kenyan boy Luca Berardi, to congratulate and appreciate his efforts in creating awareness, conserving the environment and protecting wildlife.
Berardi, at the age of 8 years, founded an environmental organisation called Young Animal Rescue Heroes (YARH) – meant to create awareness for endangered wildlife and environment. The organisation's mission also included sustainable waste management, environmental education and community outreach. In a letter dated July 12, 2016, from the White House, Obama acknowledged Luca’s efforts in preserving the environment and educating the young people about the importance of wildlife to Kenya. “I'm proud of your dedication to raising awareness about endangered animals.

By putting your best effort into everything you do and working with others, you can help shape the world we share. "Your desire to make a lasting difference is exceptional, and I encourage you to keep chasing your dreams with passion. If you focus on your education, look to serve others whenever you can, and set your sights high, I know you can achieve anything you imagine,” part of the letter by Obama read.

The 13-year-old, born of an Italian father and a Kenyan mother, lived in Italy, Thailand, and Romania, before he relocated to Kenya and started the YARH organisation. Apart from his passion for environment and wildlife, Luca began to sing at the age of four, and his parents, Mr Giorgio Berardi and Mrs Mary Muthoni Berardi encouraged and supported him to fully exploit his talents. In 2014, Luca’s star shown bright after he was invited to perform at the Youth Finance conference in New York where he sang Money Can - a song he had written.

Terming the event as the best of his life, he created more awareness about his organisation and how he wanted to educate the youth on the importance of conserving wildlife so that they could be part of his mission. After founding YARH, Luca has been moving across different slums in Nairobi, collecting and selling waste paper from schools and offices in Nairobi to Chandaria Industries for recycling. Luca donates most the money YARH raises from recycling to the Kenya Wildlife Service, a state conservation organization that combats poaching and protects vulnerable wildlife habitat.

The 13-year old has been moving to different schools holding forums where he educates the young on environment conservation through singing and plays. In his quest, Luca is trying to expand the programmers of YARH, though inadequate resources are still limiting him. Here is the photo of Luca Berardi:
