Why Opposition Leaders Raila Odinga And Kalonzo Musyoka May Be Locked Out Of 2017 Elections

Interior Cabinet Secretary Joseph Nkaissery threatens to bar politicians from participating in 2017 elections if they incite Kenyans during their political rallies across the country.
Speaking in Mombasa County, Nkaiserry vowed to work with the Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission (IEBC) to bar such politicians from participating in the upcoming General Election. “We want our leaders to address each other with respect in rallies.

We want you to sell your manifesto, ideas but not hate or inflammatory rhetoric. Let us avoid inciting others so that this country remains peaceful,” Nkaissery affirmed. The CS sent a stern warning to Opposition leaders Raila Odinga and Kalonzo Musyoka that they could be likely victims if they continued inciting Kenyans with lies of land grabbing at the Coast.

Don’t come here and incite Kenyans, tell them the truth that this or this person took land from so and so. “The issue of always telling the Coast people that their land has been stolen should stop”. The Interior CS further reiterated that, “You have been in government for so long, why you didn’t return these parcels of land to the rightful owners when you were in power? Stop politicking with the land to gain political mileage”.

The CS was speaking during the opening of 15-day registration exercise of the Makonde Community in Kwale County on Tuesday. It can be remembered that on October 13, the said community trailed all the way to State House demanding that to be recognized as Kenyan citizens.

During their arrival at State House, President Uhuru Kenyatta served them with food and other delicacies and also took that chance to apologize to them on behalf of other Kenyans.

The Makonde Group will now be issued with ID cards in December this year as the President directed.
