Here Is Raila Odinga's New Scandal With IEBC

ODM leader Raila Odinga is set for new trouble with the embattled Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission (IEBC) after defying some electoral regulations.

ODM failed to meet the December 9 deadline of submitting details of its campaign financing accounts as had been ordered by the electoral body. ODM declared that it would not engage with the IEBC while the old commissioners are still in office.

This is Despite the fact that politicians were seen rushing to beat the clock in conforming to the directive, The party took that opportunity to further advised its members not to follow the electoral body's orders since they were “ill ad diced.

The commission had on Wednesday urged all politicians to register and submit details of their campaign financing account in compliance with the Election Campaign Act, 2013. In order to monitor the expenditure by politicians, they were all required to undergo the process of Registering their bank account, which will clearly indicate money to be used in campaigns.

The Opposition, however, objected the decision stating that parties had not even selected their candidates therefore, did not have bank accounts for them to be hit with such deadlines On the other hand, Jubilee led by Party Secretariat Raphael Tuju submitted President Uhuru Kenyatta's documents urging its leaders to comply with the same.

According to the Campaign Finance Act, the expenditure by any political party in the 2017 poll should be at Sh15 Billion while presidential candidates will spend Sh5.2 Billion in the race to State House. Governors, Senators and Women representatives will be required to spend less than Sh423 Million while Members of National and County Assemblies are allowed to spend Sh33 Million.
